Instead, it turns a generator that creates as many as 330 amps of AC electrical current at 480 volts. Though huge, it’s a liter smaller than the unit in the D7R, and-for the first time-it isn’t mechanically connected to the tracks. ![]() The engine is a turbocharged diesel-a 9.3-liter inline-six that makes 235 horsepower. Still, in full-on work mode, the D7E consumes fuel at a rate of five to nine gallons per hour, which is why it comes with a tank as large as 126 gallons. At the same time, the new dozer’s electric drivetrain consumes 25 percent less fuel, thanks in part to a downsized diesel engine and the elimination of the efficiency-sapping torque converter and three-speed manual gearbox, which it no longer needs. Apparently they prefer to launch their sloppy missiles onto land, and this tactic reduces the amount of guano spattering dozers.Ĭompared with the similarly sized, conventionally powered D7R Series 2 that it replaces, the D7E’s overall performance is up 10 percent, which is measured by how much material can be pushed in an hour by its blade-it’s five feet high and 13 feet wide. However, customers can choose custom colors for example, did you know that machines destined for landfills are often painted blue? That’s done in an attempt to fool birds into thinking they’re looking down at water. But somehow they still arrived at exactly the same paint scheme as before: uniform dull yellow. The company says the D7E project involved almost 500 engineers over the course of roughly a decade to produce this completely new dozer with the first-ever electric drivetrain. In Caterpillar’s lineup of dozers, the D7E fits roughly in the middle at the light end, there’s the 17,000-pound D3, which might be used for small commercial construction, and at the other end, there’s the mammoth D11, an intimidating 250,000-pound brute built for mining work, with a nine-foot-tall blade and nearly seven-foot-tall tracks. This 60,000-pound D7E-that’s as much pork as 10 Range Rovers-is about six inches longer than a Chevy Suburban (including the blade), but it’s more than nine feet wide. in 1925, and still produces one of the biggest chunks of revenue for the world’s largest maker of construction and mining equipment. uh, wait, what is it again? “We consider this a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain,” says senior project engineer Keith Heiar, “but we’re not labeling it with the ‘hybrid’ word on the side of the machine.” That’s because, although the company’s first-ever electric drivetrain is the greenest thing in the stable, it doesn’t have auxiliary battery storage and therefore doesn’t fit the category as defined by the automotive world.Īmong Caterpillar’s almost 30 different categories of machines, the D7E belongs to the rather clumsily alliterative and repetitive “track-type tractor” unit these are commonly referred to as “dozers.” This type has a long history, dating back to the formation of Caterpillar Tractor Co. ![]() From the August 2010 issue of Car and Driver.Ĭaterpillar’s new D7E bulldozer is the world’s first hybrid-uh, electric.

Imagine smelling your favorite fall candle or a fresh-baked cinnamon cookie. Even at only 100 calories per can, I could not bring myself to drink an entire serving of any flavor, but here’s my recap after trying at least some of each one. I do not regret purchasing and trying the variety pack of four different fall flavors, but it’s certainly not for a life of moderation. Obviously, this small hiccup did not deter me. I struck out at four different locations (Kroger, Target, my neighborhood Walmart, and a gas station) before finally finding it at a Walmart Supercenter, where there were only two on the shelf. I should warn you that these are either in extremely high demand, or Bud Light is not confident enough in their product to make it widely available. It is an admirable feat to be sure, but just because something can be done, doesn’t mean it should. Amid the skyrocketing popularity of hard seltzers, the light beer brewing company achieved something once considered a joke – a pumpkin spice hard seltzer – to transition us from summer Claws by the pool to college football tailgating. Do we need a 12-pack of 12-ounce tallboys for a whopping $14.99 in every Bath, And Body Works-inspired body wash flavor? No, Bud Light, we do not. Would we like to try a sip of a pumpkin spice seltzer given the chance? Absolutely. Such is the case with Bud Light’s new limited-time “Fall Flannel” pack of seasonal flavored seltzers. 11/17/2023 0 Comments Christmas snow overlayWhen the word reaches Nome, Balto sets out in search of them with Boris, Muk and Luk. The team departs that night with Steele in the lead and picks up the medicine successfully, but on the way back, conditions deteriorate and the disoriented team ends up stranded at the base of a steep slope, with the musher knocked unconscious. Balto enters and wins, but Steele exposes his wolf-dog heritage, resulting in him being disqualified. A dog race is held to determine the best-fit dogs for a sled dog team to get the medicine. Severe winter weather conditions prevent medicine from being brought by air or sea from Anchorage, and the closest rail line ends in Nenana after authorization to transport the antitoxin by rail is given by the Governor of Alaska in Juneau. That night, all the children, including Rosy, fall ill with diphtheria. His only friends in town are a little girl named Rosy, and her red husky, Jenna whom Balto has a crush on, and is challenged by the town's favorite sled dog, Steele, a fierce and arrogant Alaskan Malamute. Being a half-breed, Balto is ridiculed by dogs and humans alike. In 1925, Balto, a wolfdog hybrid, lives on the outskirts of Nome with his adoptive father, a Russian snow goose named Boris, and two polar bears, Muk and Luk. There is always a way to wrap a program to redefine it, if you're willing to go to the trouble to do it properly. A workaround for this should be to make a wrapper program using one of the wrapper programs that redirects the AppData directory per program launched. As I don't have a laptop, and depend on my portable USB Hard Drive when I travel, this is a serious issue for me. This makes it impossible to make it portable and it stay registered when you travel. ![]() However, UEStudio '10 is forcing the registration file to go to the Application Data directory, and it can't be moved. I can live with that.ĮDIT: The above worked well with UEStudio 9.30. I've got FTP at home, but no FTP on the go. Since I only travel with it once a week, it works out quite well that way. That way, I sync from my "Program Files\IDM" directory to my "PortableApps\IDM" directory on my C: drive, then I sync my "PortableApps" from my C: to my portable drive. I keep my "portable" drive mirrored on my C: drive. I use sync software to synchronize the 2 directories to keep my configuration up to date. Then I have another install on my portable drive. One full install to my hard-drive, where I have made the same changes, but don't use the launcher. I use the FTP well enough, however, I have 2 installs. I haven't tested CVS with this setup, as I don't use it. If you need FTP on the go, I recommend a good portable FTP program. (14 and 15) Works just the same for that, and again, no FTP or SSH. I have used this same procedure for previous versions of UltraEdit before I changed over to UEStudio. The downside of this is that you lose FTP and SSH support. ![]() The beauty of it is, since I keep all my files that I edit on the same portable drive, the drive letters for those are changed as well, and UEStudio has no problem "reopening" all previously open files when I launch from another computer. As you have to set up an INI file for the launcher to specify the "last used drive letter" and the location of any and all INI files that need to be edited, and the location and name of the program to be launched, it should work with any program that relies on an INI file to read file locations. If you are interested, I can make this launching program available. Instead of launching UEStudio directly, I launch the "Launching application" which will auto-detect the current drive letter, then edit UEStudio.INI and do a global search and replace from the "previous" drive letter (kept in the launcher's configuration file) with the current drive letter (only if it changed.) It will then launch UEStudio and pass along any command line parameters that were passed to it. The next thing I did was to write a little launcher program that would reside in a directory below UEStudio. Now, that in itself only helps UEStudio to contain itself. I made the changes in UEStudio.INI to point to these new locations, and moved those files into those locations. Then I edited the UEStudio.INI file for everything that was pointing to an area outside the actual program directory, and created appropriate directories as subdirectories within the program directory to place those items in. I wish they would have placed it there to start with. It will look there first before it looks in the AppData directory. The way I did it was to start by moving the UEStudio.INI file into the same directory with UEStudio. I was able to make UEStudio into a portable application (not an official application, although it works with that just fine for me.) 11/17/2023 0 Comments Brian proffitt readwriteOn January 27, 2011, Verizon Communications announced it would buy Terremark Worldwide for $19 a share, in a deal valued at $1.4 billion. Vaultek is a well-known name when it comes to handgun safes, and it makes a few different lines including compact, sliders, and high-capacity models. If I were shopping for a handgun safe today, this is the one I’d fork over my hard-earned bills for. Rest assured, the products in our gear guides have passed our own rigorous protocols and met our criteria. Hours spent scouring user reviews, testing specifications, manufacturing practices, fire ratings, and even burglar prevention technologies went into this assessment. While I only have a single pistol safe in my home, I have done extensive research into more than two dozen safes in order to ensure that the information presented in this article is both timely and accurate. Read on for our top picks and why they stand out as the best. More than two dozen pistol safes were considered, including everything from wall safes to hidden safes to vaults and car safes. If it’s hidden or looks nice, that’s a bonus, and high build quality is more important than price, but at today’s ammunition prices, a penny saved is a penny earned. Everyone has their own requirements, but for the most part, I took the view that we want a pistol safe that will prevent anyone but myself (such as children or guests) from accessing it immediately and won’t break the bank. Think bedside storage and home defense, not the weapons depot from ‘ Boondock Saints‘ or your local gun shop. ![]() Instead, we’ll be focusing solely on handgun storage with quick access for one or two pistols, with maybe enough room for a spare magazine. You can get lost for hours down the rabbit hole of gun safes and pick up a huge 6-foot-tall safe that will hold a pile of rifles and has shelf storage for a dozen pistols and hundreds of boxes of ammunition, but that is not what we’re focusing on today. I doubt there’s more than a handful of Task & Purpose readers out there who have their firearms laying around on desks, tables, or chairs, and are tripping over them on the way to the bathroom, but there are a lot of choices out there when it comes down to how and where you’ll secure your weapon when not in use. ![]() You put the cookies in the cookie jar, the milk in the fridge, and your money in the bank, and none of those things can take human life as quickly as a handgun. Similarly, dying batteries can cause issues, so swap old ones out with new ones-and stick with the recommendations made by the manufacturer. If you’re not using it, the safest place for a handgun to be is stored in a handgun safe. That way, if your index finger or other preferred fingertip doesn’t work, you have nine backups ready to go. One easy way to get around this is by scanning all 10 of your fingers-and if your safe has room for more IDs, scan them in multiple positions. Cuts, sweaty fingers, and dirt can cause fingerprint reader issues. If you choose a biometric safe, be sure to clean the fingerprint reader often with a Q-tip. Some problems, like a dirty scanner, are easy to fix. After all, technology isn’t perfect 100% of the time. All the safes we chose here tested well for reliability, but in some cases, you may still run into issues. When looking at biometric or RFID safes, try to get a feel for how reliable the fingerprint scanner or RFID reader is, either by testing it in person or reading what reviewers have to say. You’re locking your valuables away for safety, but when you need them, you don’t want to deal with a finicky fingerprint scanner. 11/16/2023 0 Comments Reading inventory teacher loginGoogle Translate is a free service and currently offers translation in over 50 languages, although an impressive number, this does not capture all languages or dialects.
